There are strong "rumours" coming out of the club today that the opening fixture at the Olympic Stadium will be an amazing pre-season friendly against the mighty Barcelona. The club have been working on our departure from Upton Park and our opening of the stadium and have consulted many supporter's groups about how to open the new ground. Barcelona are the team who most want to see, with talents such as Messi, Neymar and Suarez set to feature. Talks with the Spanish giants have been ongoing and the club will announce the fixture as soon as the details are confirmed. The date has been penciled in for the evening of Wednesday 3rd August 2016 and will be guranteed to be a sell out event.

That would be very nice indeed.
As long as no-one minds the probably 6-0 scoreline :)

We can go easy on them and keep it down to 4.

Excellent, that would be absolutely fantastic and would give Leo Messi a chance to have a preview before he joins us

This is emotionally exhilarating if not slightly tedious - like that feeling when you're not sure if that proper fit girl likes ya back. This could be amazing, but surely not?

Mouthwatering? Who writes this shit?
Unbalanced and One-sided more like it.
Good for the balance sheet, less so for the team.
"Come and see the STARS of Manchester City!", anyone???

Yes, that's the spirit. Perhaps we should invite Orient instead?

Won't happen if we finish 6th and qualify for the Europa in the League Cup winners spot - 2nd leg of the 3rd qualifying round is 4th August!

The game should be against a team with some relevance to West Ham. Anyone who was at UP when Argentina played will know exactly the sort of cunt who will be pitching up for this.

Would be superb and is exactly the right giant of a football club that the first game there deserves.

It was either Barcelona or Real Madrid that graced the Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth season before last in a pre season friendly. They will pitch up anywhere for the right money, so people who think it's a coup are way off the mark.

Chester, it was Real Madrid.
I'd say it was a pretty big coup if we play Barcelona and messi unless you've seen us play them before, I'd imagine the players would be pretty excited about it too.
